As far as agreeing or disagreeing about how technology stifles creativity, I would have to say that I am undecided. In some ways i agree with the statement because it does take away from some aspects of creativity, as far as it has some limitations on certain things that can be done. I feel that technology could take away from personal creativity.

However in my own personal opinion i feel that technology has helped a lot with the creativity of movies, video games, music, and many other things. A personal example would be that I use technology as far as a computer to edit pictures and create images, what I consider artwork, and my creative side.

When I hear the word computer usually only one device comes to mind. Pretty much all the time it what im using right now to type this. Usually i think of my laptop or the computer in my kitchen. But is that the only type of computers we have??

In todays digital society we have come up so many electronic devices that can fit the description of “computer”, that it’s no longer just something that sits in front of you that you type on. Today we have devices such as the iphone, the Blackberry, iPod touch, certain cell phones, and gaming systems that can all do some function of what a computer does. But mostly the cell phones iPhone Blackberry and the Itouch. These devices have the same capability as a phone, so basically you are walking around with a computer in your back pocket. The reason I feel that the Blackberry, a cell phone, or even then iPhone have the same capabilities as a computer are because you can to pretty much the same things on both. For example, you can get online on your phone just as you can on the computer and check your email, or what ever else you may check online. A cell phone that i once had word on it. I could type and save papers right on my phone. iPhones I feel are the one device that we have that is a phone, but also pretty much a computer, or a “Macbook”.

Gaming devices as well can do quite a bit of what a computer can. However it’s not as close as the other devices I have mentioned in my opinion.

But one day I think that there will be a device that can have everything in one. It will be able to do everything a computer does, everything that a iPod can do, and have all the gaming systems in it as well.

I personally do feel that computer literacy as it is understood today is different from what it was 20 or 30 years ago.
20 or 30 years ago you didnt have to be “computer literate”. You didnt have to know everything about a computer for your everyday life. You didnt have to know how to use a computer at work or even just to use your phone.
But now 20 years later it seems like you need to be computer literate for everything that you do, even just to use your phone.

Now seeing as how I wasnt around 20-30 years ago I asked my dad what was diffeRt? How has computer literacy changed for him as far as work and his everyday life. well my dad is a police officer so he had alot of examples for me as far as legal things. such as, when he first got on the department 30 years ago there were no computers in the cars or the handy cell phones that they use today. The only computer that was available to them 30 years ago was in the dispatchers office. But as the years have gone by, the police department uses computers for everything now. Which means my dad has had to become ALOT more computer literate than he was 30 years ago. They use the computers to look up different people, where different places are that they need to be, police officers can look up everything right from the inside of their cars.

Thats just an example of how computer literacy has changed. I personally think that the way you understand computer literacy today will always be changing. With all the technology that we have today there is always something new comming out whether its a new computer, new programs for the computer, or even phones such as the iPhone. From here on out everyone will need to be computer literate and up to date.

Learning moments are different experiences that we have, or challenges that we face. I must say I have a few favorite learning moments. Some from school, dance, my family and my friends. But I must say most of them that are the best would have to be everything that I would learn in my dance class.

The learning moment that I would like to share, was when I was a member of my high schools dance team. It was my favorite part of the day, I LOVED it! . But ill have to admit when I first started my freshman year I wasn’t the best. I started off at one high school and danced there for freshman year and it seemed like it was pretty easy. But when I moved to East Central H.S. I was so intimidated by all the girls because they were such amazing dancers! I was so scared that I wasnt ever going to be as good as most of those girls. Luckily I had friends and an amazing teacher who were always there to help me improve.

After a while it seemed like I could do every skill that I was asked to perform after I kept practicing all the time but there was always one skill that i just could never quite get. I would practice and practice but it just wasn’t working for me. I couldn’t figure what I was doing wrong and why I could not get this one skill down. Then one day i just completely got frustrated and gave up! I told my friend who I had been dancing with for two years how frustrated I was with this and she told me how she did it and I was surprised that I had never really thought of doing it that way. I tried doing it the way she told me and of course I didn’t get the first time, but after she would show me and go through it with me I finally was able to do it! I was so excited and I would have to say that was probably one of my favorite learning moments.
